Eligibility Criteria (General - specific criteria may vary per fellowship/institution):

• Nationality: Indian citizens are generally eligible. Some fellowships may be open to Indian Origin scientists returning from abroad or foreign nationals.

• Qualification: Ph.D., M.D., or M.S. degree from a recognized University. Candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the award of the degree may also be eligible (though fellowship amount might be lower initially).

• Age Limit: Typically, the upper age limit is around 25-66 years, with relaxations for SC/ST/OBC/Physically Challenged/Women candidates (e.g., 5 years). Some fellowships may have higher age limits.

• Research Track Record: A strong academic record, evident from quality research outputs, publications in reputed journals, and prior research experience, is highly desirable.

• Mentor: Applicants generally need to identify a suitable Mentor from a recognized institution in India who holds a regular academic/research position and a Ph.D. degree.

• Previous Post-Doctoral Fellowships: Candidates who have completed an earlier post-doctoral fellowship may still be eligible for some programs.

Fellowship Benefits (May vary by institution/call):

• Consolidated monthly fellowship amount (₹65,000/- per month for ICMR-PDF).

• House Rent Allowance (HRA) as per Government of India rules (if accommodation is not provided).

• Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) as admissible (for medical professionals).

• Annual contingency grant for research expenses, consumables, travel, etc. (₹3,00,000/- per annum for ICMR-PDF).

• Medical benefits and leave as per institutional rules.

Duration of Fellowship:

• Typically 1-3 years, extendable based on satisfactory performance review.

Application Process (General):

• Applications are usually submitted online through the respective institution's or funding agency's website.

• Applicants are required to submit a detailed research proposal outlining the objectives of the proposed work.

• Necessary documents include academic certificates, proof of degree/thesis submission, publications, testimonials, and a letter of endorsement from the proposed Mentor and Head of the Host Institution.

• Shortlisted candidates may be called for an interview.
