2. Introduction & Background
Raxaul, a town in the East Champaran district of Bihar, bordering Nepal, is a significant commercial hub but also faces socio-economic challenges common to many semi-urban and rural areas in the region. These challenges include, but are not limited to, inconsistent access to nutritious food, limited availability of essential non-food items, and often, a lack of opportunities for skill enhancement that could lead to improved livelihoods. While the region has seen development, pockets of vulnerability persist, especially among daily wage earners, marginalized families, and the elderly.
The recent global and local events, including economic shifts and environmental factors, have further exacerbated these vulnerabilities, underscoring the urgent need for targeted community support. Our preliminary assessments, through local consultations and secondary data analysis, indicate a pressing need for immediate relief coupled with long-term empowerment strategies. This program is conceptualized to respond directly to these identified needs, aligning with our company's core values of social responsibility and community upliftment.
